Interesting Facts about True Hauntings
True Hauntings Blog
Cynthia Seer began the True Hauntings Blog on Jan 1st, 2020 as a way to share her experiences growing up around her grandparents extremely haunted house in St. Augustine, Fl. She didn’t initially intend to write fictional horror stories. She happened to share the first short story she’d ever written (ten years prior) and it was very well received. That story was Innocence Taken.
True Hauntings Facebook Group
Cynthia Seer began the Facebook Group just a couple of months after beginning the blog in order to build a community of like-minded, spooky friends. The group grew to roughly 400 members by mid 2020 and was a great success! Cindy still very much enjoys interacting with her followers in that Facebook Group, which boasts roughly 3,000 members and growing!
Parade of Nightmares published book
As the blog and FB group gained momentum, followers began to request a published book of short horror stories. The idea for Parade of Nightmares came to Cynthia in the shower, of all places! It consists of 8 short stories, each one featuring a different phobia! The book was published through Amazon on Oct 1st of 2020 and is still available today.
True Hauntings & Scary Stories podcast
After the book published successfully, followers began to call for a podcast. Cindy was reluctant because of her mild dyslexia but was eventually convinced in early 2021. The podcast launched on April 15th, 2021 and was an immediate success! Odd numbered episodes are about true ghost stories while even numbered episodes are Cindy reading her own short scary stories. A new episode is released every Monday and a special episode is released every Oct 31st to celebrate Halloween! It is still running today and can be found on all major podcast apps.
Hosts of the Podcast
The hosts of the show were originally meant to be Cindy and her younger sister, Tina. However, Tina found it to be too much so another younger sister, Brick, stepped in. She remained for the better part of a year before she, too, had to step down. At that point, Cindy held an audition so listeners of the show could co-host an episode and Cindy could pick the best fit. It was through this process that she found her next and longest running co-host, Kat. Cindy has now started making new content with her newest host, Heather, a fellow podcaster.
